Common Bermuda, a warm season grass. (One of Atlanta's most popular grasses.) Drought tolerance: High, Shade tolerance: Low; needs all-day sun, Cold tolerance: High, Establishment rate: Fast, When to fertilize: In active growth, typically around May, and again in early September, Maintenance level: Low

 Centipede

Centipede, a warm season grass. (Known as "the lazy man's grass.") Drought tolerance: High, Shade tolerance: High, Cold tolerance: High, Establishment rate: Fast, When to fertilize: In active growth, typically around May, and again in early September, Maintenance level: Low

 Fescue

Tall fescue, a cool season grass (Tied with Bermuda grass as most popular in metro Atlanta.)   St.Augustine

St. Augustine, A warm season grass Drought tolerance: High, Shade tolerance: High, Cold tolerance: Low, Establishment rate: Fast, When to fertilize: Around May and early September, Maintenance level: Medium

 Zoysia

Zoysia, a warm season grass. (Considered the Cadillac of grasses.) Drought tolerance: High. Shade tolerance: Medium, Cold tolerance: High, Establishment rate: Slow, When to fertilize: In active growth, typically around May, and again in early September, Maintenance level: High; needs to be mowed every four days and will need to be de-thatched to reduce thickness
